Dance Recital Information

There are a lot of components involved in staging a dance recital. We ask that you carefully go over this information, if you have any questions please ask at the front desk or call 631-368-0299

Photos

Class/Individual pictures will be taken on May 7, 2008 at the studio. There will be no classes held on that day. There is no obligation to buy pictures. Picture will be taken on this day, and you will be able to see and purchase your picture at dress rehearsal. Even if you choose not to purchase photos, you are required to show up on picture day to take the class picture. Each class will be given a time for their photos (see the March newsletter or log onto www.elitedancecentre.com). Times can also be found posted on the school bulletin boards. Any reorders must be done directly through the photographer and not the school.

Hair and Make-up

A sheet detailing how dancers should wear their hair and make-up for the photos and the dress rehearsal/recital will be attached to each costume. Please remember that photo make-up should be considerably lighter than recital makeup. The recital make-up is a lot heavier to compensate for stage lighting.

Dress Rehearsal

Dress rehearsal is absolutely mandatory. It is essential that dancers get a sense of the stage and have an opportunity to practice in the actual recital hall. The one and ONLY dress rehearsal is in the auditorium of Northport HS. Students must come in full costume and make-up to dress rehearsal

Dress rehearsal times:

Saturday, June 7th at 2:00-4:30pm

Exact times for your child can be found in the March newsletter or on www.elitedancecentre.com Dress rehearsal will last approximately 2 hours and will start on time regardless if all the dancers are present or not. Please come 15 minutes early as sometimes we run early. We ask that you please plan around this, carpool if necessary and be there on time. All students must stay until the end of the dress rehearsal in order to rehearse the finale.

Recital Fee

Recital fee is $125 per family. This fee includes 2 tickets, 1 DVD, recital T-shirt props, all special effects. Recital fee is due by May 22nd. This fee must be paid in order to purchase tickets and participate in the recital. If you need additional tickets, they can be purchased during ticket sales.

Recital Seating & Tickets

All seating is reserved by the purchase of a ticket. Tickets go on sale on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at 9 am at the studio. Ticket sales will continue from Monday, June 2nd until show time. Tickets are $20 in advance and $22 at the door. All families will receive two tickets with the recital package. You must pick up your recital package tickets from the studio. All tuition and fees must be paid in full in order to purchase tickets and participate in the show. You may Pre-order your tickets to avoid waiting in line by submitting an envelope with your last name and total amount of tickets needed (including the two tickets that come with your recital package) and cash or check for any additional tickets needed to the front desk starting May 1st. All envelopes must be in by May 31st. We will pick the best available seats 1 hours after tickets go on sale. This will be done on a first come, first serve basis. Lost or stolen tickets will not be refunded. We ask that the audience members stay quiet and seated for the duration of the show. If you have to travel out of your seat during the show please take a seat that is in the rear of the auditorium.

Time

All dancers should be backstage 1/2 hour before the recital starts. The doors to the auditorium will also be open 1/2 hour before start time.

Where Dancers Go Backstage

At the dress rehearsal and recital, all dancers must report to the band rooms behind the stage. Please do not loiter backstage with the students. Please drop them off with the room managers or instructors and leave the backstage area immediately. PARENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED BACKSTAGE. It is very hard for us to get organized when we have people other than dancers and staff backstage. Parents or relatives are not allowed to remain backstage. Dancers will remain backstage for the duration of the recital. Students will be able to watch a television while the recital in progress.

Costumes and Make-up

Dancers should arrive in full costume and make-up. The only thing that they should need to change into is their dance shoes. Dancers who are in more then one dance should have their second costume with them to change into immediately after their first dance.

Food

NO food or drink is allowed backstage or in the auditorium. Please send dancers with only a bottle of water and little ones with something to keep them occupied such as coloring books (in case they don’t feel like watching the recital on the TV in the dressing room).

Recital Length

Recitals are anywhere from 2 to 2 1/2 hours with a 15 minute intermission

Photographs or Videotaping

No photography or video taping is permitted at the recital. If you are caught taking photos or filming, the show you will be stopped by security, and you will be asked to leave the auditorium. A professional videotaping service will be on hand to film the recital. Additional videos can be after the recital. The videos are generally ready within 6 weeks of the recital and can be picked up at the studio Front Desk by August 30th
